Vibrational relaxation of CN stretch of pseudo-halide anions (OC[N.sup.-], SC[N.sup.-], and SeC[N.sup.-]) in polar solvents
Article Abstract:
The vibrational relaxation dynamics of pseudo-halide anions XC[N.sup.-] (X=O, S, Se) in polar solvents were investigated to understand the influence of charge on solute-to-solvent intermolecular energy transfer (IET) and solvent assisted intramolecular vibrational relaxation (IVR) pathways. It is found that in all the solvents studied, the relaxation rated follow the order of OC[N.sup.-] -> SC[N.sup.-] -> SeC[N.sup.-], a trend which is attributed to stronger solvent-solvent interaction owing to larger partial charges on the X, C, and N atoms and smaller frequency mismatch in IVR pathways in going from X= Se to S to O.

Ultrafast electron transfer between molecule adsorbate and antimony doped tin oxide (ATO) nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
The effect of doping on interfacial electron transfer (ET) dynamics in Re(dpbpy)(CO)(sub 3)Cl (dpbpy = 4,4'(CH(sub 2)PO(OH)(sub 2))2-2,2'-bipyridine) (ReClPO3) sensitized ATO (Sb:SnO2)nanocrystalline thin films are examined. Details of the dependence of the recombination rate on conduction band electron density and a possible mechanism for the recombination process are discussed.

Solvation induced vibrational peak shift of a Re bipyridyl complex in solution and at the nanoporous ZrO2/liquid interface
Article Abstract:
The solvation induced vibrational peak shift of Re bipyridyl complex in solution and at the nanoporous ZrO2/liquid interfaces are compared. An instantaneous blue shift in CO stretching frequency is observed, which is followed by slower shifts on the few hundred picosecond time scale.
